PARENT INFORMATION AND APERO EVENING

Parent Information Evening and Apero

On Wednesday evening Julia Pickard and Esmond Tweedie presented the latest developments at VIS.  These included the new timetable and Secondary curriculum, announcement of the new Advisory Board, a presentation of the proposed new school building, news of the COBIS accreditation process and new dining arrangements.

Timetable and Curriculum

VIS Secondary timetable has become more spaced during the day with five minute breaks between lessons and a longer lunch break to allow children some proper relaxation time. The timetable has also been designed so that it does not need to change for the Winter term.

Our curriculum has become more flexible so that students can now study three science IGCSEs or opt for a Coordinated “Double Award” in which students study all three but gain 2 IGCSE grades. Those students can then also choose to study Art or Religious Studies as an extra IGCSE.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board has been appointed and includes a wealth of educational and business experience. Didier Boutroux who has previously acted as Headmaster at VIS will become President. He has recruited: Caroline Kirby, Headteacher at Shebbear College; Cris Symes, Deputy Head at Eastbourne College; Peter Davidsson a Secondary and Primary parent; and Emilia Keladitis, a Primary parent. We anticipate the Advisory board will not only provide outstanding experience, advice and support to the leadership but also connect parents meaningfully into sculpting the future development of VIS.

New Building

The proposed new building is an exciting new phase of growth for VIS. It will move VIS from its current locations into a modern purpose built building with inspiring space and light.

Dining Provision

We are very happy to announce a new partnership with the W hotel. VIS parent, Pierre-Henry Bovsovers, has kindly enabled our Secondary students to enjoy their lunches in 5 star luxury starting from the beginning of the Winter term.

Website

Finally, we invite feedback for our new website. Is there something you would like to see on the site? Please get in touch and info@lvis.ch if there is.
