Skiing is in
our DNA

From Preschool to Year 11, all students ski at least twice a week in the Winter term. We offer several comprehensive skiing programmes which provide opportunities for children of all levels to progress in the biggest and possibly most beautiful ski area in Switzerland.

All our ski programmes are run in conjunction with the Ecole Suisse de Ski  in Verbier and every ski group is coached by a qualified professional ESSV ski teacher.

Programmes to suit every ability

There are a several programmes which VIS offer at different stages in children’s development.

1.

Fun and Improvement

A great way to start skiing or simply enjoy the experience. Students’ techniques are improved by exploring the mountain in a safe and ability appropriate way.

This is offered from Pre-school to Year 11 and includes two half days per week with ESS instructors, snacks and drinks.

Freeride Introduction

Available from Year 5, Freeride Introduction lessons are conducted by specialist instructors and a focus on technique, safety and correct use of equipment. An extra fee applies.

Race

Available from Year 4, students can opt into lessons which focus on introducing race technique whilst still promoting basic skills. The training is included in the school fees, and children also have the option to compete in SGIS races.

 

2.

Ski Academy

The VIS Ski Academy is for our most dedicated and high level skiers. There are 3 options:

Freeride

Available from Year 7, the Freeride Academy benefits from at least 6 days with a mountain guide during the Winter Term.

Ski Race

Available from Year 5, the VIS Race Academy train every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and compete in the Swiss Group of International Schools races.

Combi

Available from Year 5, the Combi Academy caters to those skiers who wish to train in both Race and Freeride disciplines. They train on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. They will be entered for SGIS races as well.

For all streams we provide pre-season physical conditioning, trampoline training and 3 weekends of glacier skiing at Saas Fee and Zermatt.

The VIS Ski Academy is not included in the School’s Fees.
