Frederic Jaccard MSc, GraDipEd, PGCE

Frédéric Jaccard is an experienced and dedicated Mathematics and Science teacher with over fifteen years of professional experience in education. He has a passion for fostering a love of learning in his students and utilises a conceptual teaching approach to engage them. His kind, patient and considerate personality allows him to connect with students of all abilities and backgrounds. Frédéric is committed to creating dynamic and interactive lessons that incorporate open-ended tasks, assessments for learning and differentiation, project-based learning and technology in the classroom.
Frédéric holds a Master of Science from EPFL, a Graduate Diploma in Education from Macquarie University (Australia) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Unitec (New Zealand). Originally from Lausanne, he has had the opportunity to teach and live in different countries. He moved to Sydney in 2005 and then to Auckland from 2016. He was previously employed as the Curriculum Leader for Middle School Mathematics at Kristin School, where he was responsible for leading the design and implementation of the mathematics middle school curriculum. Frédéric also served as the Head of Mathematics Faculty in 2020. He has experience teaching a wide range of subjects and curriculum (Australian, New Zealand NCEA, IB MYP & IB DP) to students of all year groups (Year 7 to 13). Frédéric returned to his home country at the end of 2022 and joined VIS in January 2023.
Frédéric’s hard work and dedication to teaching have been recognised through various awards, such as the 2021 Kalman Teacher Fellowship, and the Ernest Duncan Award for Teaching Mathematics in 2017. He also has a diverse background in computer science, research, software development, and consulting (Logitech, CSIRO, Nimag Networks).
Frédéric’s top VIS guiding principles are Kindness and Family. He is happily married and the father of two daughters who also attend VIS.
