Kathyann Sedgwick BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS

Primary School Class Teacher and Primary School Safeguarding Lead

Kathyann was born and raised in the Peak District, England. From a young age she always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She graduated from the University of Cumbria with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education and Physical Education. Following this, she completed her Qualified Teacher Status in an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted certified school in north London. Kathyann has taught in both state and independent primary and secondary schools in London and the North of England. In her different teaching roles, she was responsible for Science, Religious Education, PSHE and helping to run the school Mountaineering Club. Kathyann has successfully mentored graduate students in gaining QTS in the UK and in Switzerland. In 2022, Kathyann gained her ‘Safeguarding and Child Protection for Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3’ and is now the Safeguarding Lead for VIS Primary School.

She moved to Verbier with her husband and dog in 2016. She worked at St. George’s International School in Montreux until 2019 when she was asked to join VIS. Kathyann has two young children who attend VIS. In her spare time, she loves hiking in the mountains with her dog, skiing, ski touring, road cycling and spending quality time with her family and friends.
