Noémie Ajenjo Masters in FLE, PGCE

Staff

French and Spanish Teacher

Noémie grew up in a small village in Alsace, France. After her schooling, she enrolled at the University of Strasbourg to explore her interests in linguistics and the history of language development. It was only when one of her professors suggested she combine her Masters in FLE (Francais Langue Etrangère) with a PGCE certification, that the idea of teaching was planted. She obtained her PGCE from Cumbria University and stayed on in the UK, working as a teacher in a low-income school in Birmingham for three years. She credits this period spent working with disadvantaged students for shaping her love of and commitment to positive change through teaching.

Following this period, Noémie took six months out of work, living and travelling in a van, through Europe. Noémie then worked as French coordinator at the British International School of Hanoi in Vietnam followed by a position as Head of Modern Languages at the British School of Kathmandu. After five years in Asia, Noéemie returned to Europe, working as a language teacher in Munich before arriving in Verbier where she worked as Head of Modern Languages at Copperfield for two years. She continues her teaching journey at VIS where she teaches both French and Spanish, including IB French A.

Noémie has many interests, from the outdoors including hiking, climbing and alpinism to the indoors, including cooking, reading and yoga.
