Mike has been working in Education for 16 years both in the UK and in Switzerland, and has had a focused career in pastoral care and academic teaching in local and international schools.
After working as a boarding houseparent in an international school in the UK, Mike moved to Switzerland in 2015 where he continued his passion for enriching pastoral and safeguarding provision for children in International Schools. He has worked as a Housemaster in boarding houses, alongside teaching History, Politics and Theory of Knowledge at Secondary School. He has also enjoyed taking students around the world on many educational trips.
He holds a BA Degree in Law with Politics, an MScEcon in Intelligence and International History from Aberystwyth University, and a PGCE in Secondary Education from Buckingham University.
Mike believes that strong pastoral care and wellbeing are fundamental to every child’s development, both in and beyond school. He believes that children should feel safe, valued, understood and supported, and that Education should not focus solely on academic achievement, but also help young people develop confidence, resilience, empathy and the skills to manage challenges and build positive relationships.
In his spare time, Mike enjoys playing piano and guitar, painting, keeping fit and skiing.
