Surrounded by the Swiss Alps, we have one of the world’s greatest outdoor classrooms on our doorstep, and we make full use of it.
The mission of the Verbier International School Mountain Leadership Programme (MLP) is to develop leadership through authentic outdoor learning and mountain experiences.
Every Secondary year group takes part in the MLP once per term, stepping away from the traditional classroom and into environments that challenge students physically and mentally.
Through summit climbs, expeditions, overnight experiences, navigation, survival skills, avalanche awareness, and other mountain challenges, students learn how to operate safely and responsibly outdoors.
Yet the MLP is about much more than reaching a summit.
Students learn to make decisions under pressure, communicate effectively, support their teammates, manage risk, overcome setbacks, and keep going when something feels difficult. They are deliberately taken beyond their comfort zones in a supportive environment where challenge becomes an opportunity for growth.
Over time, these experiences build courage, resilience, independence, confidence, and leadership.
The mountains provide the challenge. Our students discover what they are capable of.
