About Us

A Small School in a Big Landscape

Verbier International School is an international day and boarding school for students aged 3 to 18, located in the heart of Verbier in the Swiss Alps.

Founded in 2011 with just eight students, VIS today educates just under 200 students representing more than 50 nationalities. We have grown steadily, but deliberately. We remain a small school because we believe that is where the best education happens: teachers know their students personally, families quickly become familiar faces, and every child is understood as an individual rather than a name on a register.

In 2025 the school opened its new home, Les Trois Cimes, a purpose-designed campus in the centre of Verbier. Set alongside the Verbier Sports Centre, it brings Primary and Secondary students together on one site, with modern learning spaces and outstanding facilities that support both academic achievement and wellbeing. The same year, VIS joined Dukes Education, a leading family of schools in the UK and internationally, strengthening our global outlook while leaving our alpine character entirely our own.

An Education Shaped by Its Setting

Our campus sits at 1,500 metres, within the renowned 4 Vallées ski area and beneath Mont Fort, the highest peak accessible from Verbier at 3,330 metres. With more than 410 kilometres of pistes on our doorstep, the mountains here are not a backdrop to school life. They are part of it.

Skiing, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, golf, and leadership expeditions give our students an active, healthy, and outward-looking education throughout the year. They also teach lessons that no classroom can: how to keep going, how to rely on others, and how to discover that you are more capable than you thought.

Academics and Care

Students follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme, leading to the IB Diploma Programme and the High School Diploma. Small classes allow teaching to be genuinely personalised, with every student followed closely and challenged according to their own strengths and needs.

Alongside this sits a strong culture of care. Every student is known individually and supported pastorally, and our phone-free school day encourages them to be fully present, to build real friendships, and to develop the focus, confidence, and resilience that come with them.

Vision, Integrity, and Strength are the values that run through all of it.
