Camps FAQ
How does it work if my child is traveling alone?
If your child is traveling independently, we recommend booking the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service directly with the airline. Once this has been arranged, please let us know so that we can coordinate their arrival and ensure a member of the VIS Camps team is there to welcome them at Geneva Airport.
Who can I contact if the airline requires the details of the staff member meeting my child?
If the airline requests the contact details of the VIS Camps staff member meeting your child at Geneva Airport, please contact us at camps@vischool.ch. We will be happy to provide the necessary information.
Can parents use the VIS Camps airport transfer service?
Our airport transfer service is primarily designed for campers to ensure a smooth and organised arrival experience. If a parent would also like to use the transfer service, this may be possible for an additional fee. Please contact us at camps@vischool.ch to discuss the available options.
What if we prefer to drop off and collect our child ourselves?
We would be delighted to welcome you on campus.
Arrival Day: Parents are welcome to drop off their child between 11:00 and 16:00. Our team will be available to answer any questions and help your child settle in.
Departure Day: We recommend collecting your child between 08:00 and 12:00 for a smooth departure experience.
Can we accompany our child to their room and help them unpack?
We strongly encourage them to unpack independently. This helps them build confidence, responsibility, and personal organization from the very beginning of their camp experience. Our staff are always available to support and help if needed.
Will my child share a room with their friend?
If your child would like to share a room with a friend attending camp, please let us know by emailing camps@vischool.ch before the start of the programme.
We will do our very best to accommodate room requests; however, as room allocations depend on availability and camper numbers, we cannot guarantee requests in advance. Room assignments and roommate details will be confirmed upon arrival.
How many campers share a room?
Most campers stay in twin rooms with a private en-suite bathroom, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment.
We also have a limited number of single and triple rooms, depending on availability and camp arrangements.
Do you provide laundry service?
Yes. Campers have access to the laundry facilities at the boarding house during their stay. Our boarding team is always available to assist and ensure the process runs smoothly. To help prevent items from being misplaced, we strongly recommend that all clothing and personal belongings are clearly labelled before arriving at camp. This simple step helps us return any lost items quickly and efficiently.
Do I need to arrange insurance for my child?
VIS Camps provides accident insurance coverage for incidents that may occur during camp activities. In addition, our on-campus Health Centre is staffed by a qualified nurse who is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support campers’ health and wellbeing. While additional medical insurance is not required by the camp, families may choose to arrange extra health insurance for their own peace of mind. In the event of a serious illness or injury, our Health Centre team may recommend or arrange treatment at the nearest hospital.
Who should I contact in case of an emergency?
Upon arrival, families will receive important contact information, including the phone number of their child’s camp counsellor. This ensures that you can quickly reach the appropriate person if you need assistance during your child’s stay.
What if my child requires medication ?
Any medical conditions, allergies, or medication requirements should be included in your child’s enrolment form. Before camp begins, our nurse will review all medical information and may contact you if further details or documentation are required. This helps us ensure that every camper receives the appropriate support and care throughout their stay.
Can you cater for food allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes. Our catering team can accommodate a wide range of food allergies, intolerances, and dietary requirements. We kindly ask families to provide details of any allergies, intolerances, or special dietary needs when completing the application form.
How does pocket money work?
We recommend providing approximately CHF 50 per week for campers aged 7–10 and CHF 150 per week for campers aged 11–17.
Can I contact my child at any time during the day?
To encourage campers to fully engage in camp life, activities, and friendships, we operate a structured phone policy. Campers are allowed to use their phones or personal devices during designated times:
- Morning: approximately one hour during breakfast
- Afternoon: approximately one hour after activities, around 5:00 pm
Outside of these times, devices are stored safely to help campers make the most of their camp experience.
Do campers need to sign up for activities?
No. All activities are included as part of the camp programme and are carefully planned by our team. Campers enjoy a varied schedule of outdoor adventures, workshops, excursions, sports, and evening activities throughout their stay.
