Pastoral Care

Every Student Known

At VIS, care begins with knowing our students.

Our deliberately small community allows meaningful relationships to develop between students and the adults around them. Teachers, tutors, pastoral staff, boarding staff, and our Learning Support Team work together to ensure students feel safe, valued, and supported throughout school life.

We believe that when young people feel happy, connected, and confident in their environment, they are better able to learn, take on challenges, build relationships, and achieve their potential.

Our phone-free school day is an important part of this approach. By reducing digital distractions during the school day, students are encouraged to be fully present in lessons, spend break times talking and interacting face-to-face, and develop healthier relationships with technology.

Pastoral care also means giving students someone to turn to. Whether they need academic guidance, emotional support, help navigating friendships, or simply someone to talk to, our aim is for every student to know that support is never far away.

To be known is to belong, and belonging is at the heart of our community.
